On your marks, get set, go!

Sun’s out, guns out! For many people, summertime means hot nights with cold drinks and good company, and this is no different for the BrightWolves team. With an average age of 28 years, we are in for a party. However, these long and warm days also provide the perfect conditions for the BrightWolves team to practice their favourite sports. And these are many and diverse. From exotics like sailing, skiing and rock climbing to team sports such as rugby, soccer and hockey, and endurance sports like running, cycling or triathlon – BrightWolves is ready for the challenge.

Sharpen the saw

The high level of sports activity is more than just a coincidence. All wolves share a common set of values and ‘BrightWolves DNA’. We are all result-oriented individuals, who understand that in order to perform well on our projects, we need to take care of our body and grant our minds the necessary time off. This is what we like to call ‘sharpen the saw’ – as described by Stephen Covey in his ‘7 habits of highly effective people’, on which all Quanteus Group employees enjoyed a 2-day training. The scientifically proven effects of exercise on our health and mental performance are endless:

1. Exercise feeds the brain by improving blood flow, which in turn improves memory and attention span: always handy during the challenging BrightWolves projects.

2. Exercise improves the oxygen supply to the hippocampus (the part of the brain responsible for learning and memory), creating new brain cells – who doesn’t want that?

3. Exercise encourages the production of neurotransmitters such as endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, nicknamed the ‘feel-good’ hormone; and all of these neurotransmitters help to improve one’s mood and reduce feelings of anxiety and stress.

Mens sana in corpore sano

These sporty vibes and values are strongly encouraged by BrightWolves’ founder and Quanteus Group managing partner Kris Vansanten. Kris, who did not practice a lot of sports when he was younger, only recently experienced the positive effects of exercising on mind and body: “It was only when I acquired The House of Marketing (2014) and thus came into close contact with a group of young people, that I started to pay more attention to sports. It was a two-way interaction: I encouraged the consultants to launch sports initiatives, and these initiatives stimulated me to participate myself. By subscribing to an event like the Antwerp 10 Miles, you force yourself to train for that specific goal. This doesn’t only get your body in shape; it also makes my mind sharper and more alert. I often find solutions for professional problems during a workout. Mens sana in corpore sano.”
